Racing Previews:

Hurworth point-to-point at Skutterskelfe Park

Saturday 17 March 2012

One hundred and sixteen entries have been received for the seven race Hurworth point-to-point which takes place on Saturday 17th March at Skutterskelfe Park, Hutton Rudy.  Racing starts at 1.00 pm with the Hunt Members race.

Saddlers Mot ran an excellent race at the Holderness on Sunday although this is a very different track, The Real Rocker could open his account but the race is likely to go the way of Go On Be A Lady who ran a very good race in second at the South Durham Farmers Meeting a fortnight ago.

Hubble Bubble travels down from the Northern Area for the restricted race, but Artic Pride ran an excellent race at Charm Park to win his maiden and can comfortably step up in class here.

The Ladies Open has attracted a large field and Amicelli’s entry is likely to be a contingency for Jacqueline Coward, in case he doesn’t get into the Christie’s Foxhunters at Cheltenham on Friday.  She does however have several other options and Chancery Lad could be the best of these.  Brize Norton has run well at this course before but the winner is likely to be Sea Scout who has already won twice this season and previously at this course.

In the Mens Open, Belon Gale looks a useful recruit to point-to-pointing having won three times under rules, however either Borero or Sonevafushi could take the spoils, dependent on which one Harry Bannister decides to ride.

Having had a run already this season, Knoxhill Archie is likely to run well in the Confined, however Classinaglass has done nothing but progress this season and there is no reason why he can’t take this race on his way up.

The day concludes with two divisions of the maiden race.  The postcode for satellite navigation is TS15 0JL and admission is £10 per person.
