Cartmel to inspect.

Heavy rain is threatening tomorrow's card at Cartmel, and a precautionary inspection of the course has been called for 7.30 am on Monday morning.

Termagant wins Moyglare on desperate ground.

Kevin Prendergast's Termagant was the unexpected 16/1 winner of this afternoon's Moyglare Stud Stakes on heavy going at the Curragh. Having won her maiden race back in June, very little was known about the filly, and in pre race talk, she even seemed to be Prendergast's second string preference behind Wrong Answer, but when she pushed on past Aidan O'Brien's second string filly Famous at the two furlong marker, there was only going to be one winner of today's Group 1 contest.

Famous stayed on for second place, holding off a late rallyfrom race favourite and stable mate Lillie Langtry, while Godolphin's Long Lashes could only manage a disappointing fourth position.

Chinese White continues her resurgence in form.

The Dermot Weld trained Chinese White followed up on her recent win in a Listed race at Gowran Park, by landing a decisive four and a half length victory over Latin Love in this afternoon's Group 3 Dance Design Stakes at the Curragh.

Discussing the future plans about his progressive four year old filly, Weld said after this afternoon's success,

"She deserved her first Group win, and due to her good current form, we will probably come back to the Curragh on Leger weekend for the Blandford Stakes. If she were to win again, I think we might give her a shot at the Prix de L'Opera at Longchamp.

Arctic blasts away his rivals.

The Tracy Collins trained Arctic proved he is a very good colt on any sort of going when completing a three timer in this afternoon's Group 3 Tower Stakes at the Curragh. Always cruising under a solid ride from Pat Shanahan, the grey colt quickened impressively on desperate ground, and even had the luxury of being eased down in the final stages as he scored by four and a half lengths from Aidan O'Brien's Air Chief Marshall.

After the race, Collins commented,

"He has entries in Ireland, Britain and France, and I will now have to talk to connections about where we go next. But where -ever it is, we will have no fears, for he is becoming a serious horse, and I would be happy to take on top class horses anywhere."

Going helps Reverence to turn back the clock.

Eric Alston's eight year old veteran Reverence showed he is still a serious sprinter when given his preferred heavy going, and he proved too good in the conditions for all of his rivals in this afternoon's Grenzon Flying Five Stakes. Powering clear in the final furlong, Reverence was chased home by fellow British raider Judge and Jury, but the runner up had no answers to his older rival, having to settle for a length and a half beating in today's conditions.

After today's race, Eric Alston confirmed Reverence had now earned the right to have another go at winning the Prix de L'Abbaye on Arc Day at Longchamp.

Poet carries top weight to victory in Irish Cambridgeshire.

Despite being burdened with top weight on desperate ground, the Aidan O'Brien trained Poet held off a late challenge from Raise Your Heart to win this afternoon's Irish Cambridgeshire at the Curragh.

After the race, O'Brien indicated this would be his charge's last run in handicap company,

"He did very well to win with such a weight on heavy ground, but he is a big strong horse, and I think he has now earned the right to compete in Group company on his next outing."

Walsh stood down after heavy fall.

The Ruby Walsh ridden Twenty Bags was amongst seven fallers at the first obstacle of today's Kenny Group Hurdle at Galway, and after suffering heavy bruising to his legs, the course doctor stood the jockey down from racing for the rest of today's meeting.

It is understood, Walsh will have his injuries assessed over the next couple of days, and providing there is no major problem, he should be fit to resume riding by the end of the week.

Lemaire takes over from Soumillion.

Following the 'sacking' of Christophe Soumillion for the comments he made about Andre Fabre, Christophe Lemaire is reportedly delighted with being given the job as number one jockey with the Aga Khan in the 2010 season. Speaking on his website, Lemaire today said,

"It is an exciting challenge, and I am delighted and honoured the Prince has chosen me to ride his horses in 2010.

Q E II next on agenda for Delegator.

An impressive turn of foot landed Delegator his Group 2 victory in Saturday's Celebration Mile at Goodwood, and Godolphin are now confident he will improve from yesterday's run, with the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot now expected to be his next major target.

Rain sparing Leopardstown ahead of Champion clash.

The incessant rain which seems to be causing heavy ground on most of Ireland's racecourses is currently failing to land on Dublin's Leopardstown track, and with going reported to be good to firm at present, Leopardstown officials are becoming increasingly optimistic the dream re-match between four time Group 1 winner Sea The Stars and Irish Derby victor Fame and Glory will draw in fantastic crowds for next weekend's Irish Champion Stakes Meeting at the Dublin course.

Summer Bird very impressive in Travers.

Belmont Stakes winner Summer Bird was mighty impressive when winning yesterday's Grade 1 Shadwell Travers by three and a half lengths at Saratoga in the U S, and several firms have now made him a much shorter price for this year's running of the Breeders Cup Classic at Santa Anita.

Flying Childers target for Our Jonathan.

After taking the successful risk of allowing Our Jonathan to travel across to Ireland and compete in last evening's Listed Danehill Dancer Tipperary Stakes at Dundalk, trainer Kevin Ryan admitted he was delighted Our Jonathan had overcome his poor start to land the five furlong Listed Juvenile contest, and following on from post race advise from jockey Fran Berry, the North Yorkshire based trainer indicated the Flying Childers at Doncaster's St Leger meeting would be his juvenile's next target.
