Cousin Vinny will run.

After being supplied with some incorrect information earlier in the week, can we point out that Cousin Vinny is expected to line up for his first run of the season in tomorrow's Royal Bond Novices Hurdle at Fairyhouse.

Inglis career now in jeopardy.

When Inglis Drever pulled up in today's Toteswinger Long Distance Hurdle at Newbury, like many other people, my heart was in my mouth. For one second I feared the worse, but happily, his injury is not life threatening.

However, the soft tissue damage reported by connections could be code for more tendon damage. Bearing in mind Inglis Drever's illustrious career, including three World Hurdle victories at the Cheltenham Festival, has also been blighted by injury lay-offs, and with nothing left to prove, a serious injury this time could persuade owner Graham Wiley to bring the curtain down on a brilliant hurdling career.

Newcastle Off!

In an interview with At The Races after calling off today's race meeting at Newcastle, Clerk of the Course James Armstrong was obviously 'gutted' by his enforced decision, but a minus nine degree overnight temperature, combined with a proposed early start to racing, meant the ground had no chance of being frost free by race time, and this left him with no alternative but to cancel today's fixture.

With so many good hurdle races due to take place over the next few weeks, Armstrong also indicated the wbx.com Fighting Fifth Hurdle, which was to be today's major race at Newcastle, would probably not find another home, and would almost certainly be lost to the racing calendar for this season.

Character Building Withdrawn.

In an important announcement this morning, the connections of last year's Hennessy Gold Cup third placed horse

Character Building, have decided to withdraw him from today's running of the race.

Aran Concerto to miss Drinmore.

Aran Concerto, the firm anti post favourite, was last evening a suprise withdrawal from tomorrow's Bar-One Racing Drinmore Novices Chase at Fairyhouse. Apparently, connections were not entirely happy with his condition, and felt they were left with no option but to withdraw him from tomorrow's Grade One contest.
