Ravens could attempt Breeders Cup Classic.

The way Ravens Pass stayed on when winning yesterday's Queen Elizabeth II Stakes has presented connections with an interesting problem. Although John Gosden's prized three year old has been promoted to the head of the market for the Breeders Cup Mile, the development of his stamina as the season has progressed suggests he may now get the ten furlongs of the Breeders Cup Classic. Tom Halliday memorial scholarship will go to his brother.

Presented in memory of Tom Halliday, a conditional jockey who died from injuries suffered during a fall at Market Rasen, the Tom Halliday scholarship award for 2008 2009 will go to his younger brother James Halliday.

Starting with Philip Kinsella in 2005, the scholarship has been presented by Market Rasen racecourse to an up and coming conditional jockey. Like Philip Kinsella, James Halliday, who is attached to the Malcolm Jefferson yard, has already proved his potential by riding out of his claim.

The scholarship, which is fully supported by the Halliday family and the Northern Racing College, aids a young national hunt jockey in his development to the professional ranks. The 2008 2009 award will provide James with financial assistance, and will provide the opportunity for sessions with experts in a number of areas of racing, including; schooling, nutrition, and media training.
