Misheer to miss Moyglare Stud Stakes.

Clive Brittain has decided to pull Misheer out of Sunday's Moyglare Stud Stakes after obtaining information on the heavy going she would encounter at the Curragh.

With only seven runners now going to post, on paper, the race looks like a ddirect confrontation between Aidan O'Brien's Lillie Langtry and Godolphin's Irish acquisition Long Lashes, but Kevin Prendergast seems convinced his Wrong Answer will thrive on Sunday's predicted heavy going.

Tomorrow's line-up for Scoop Six wager.

Leg 1 - 2.05 pm Goodwood.

Leg 2 - 2.20 pm Newmarket.

Leg 3 - 2.50 pm Newmarket.

Leg 4 - 3.25 pm Newmarket.

Leg 5 - 3.35 pm Beverley.

Leg 6 - 3.45 pm Goodwood.

Amary out of Prestige Stakes.

Clive Brittain has had to add Amary to his withdrawals from this weekend's races, as the filly was found to be stiff this morning, and will now miss her proposed engagement in tomorrow's Prestige Stakes at Goodwood.

Silage sheets and hard work save Cartmel.

Despite having rainfall in excess of 50 millimetres this last week, Cartmel have managed to save their two August Bank Holiday Meetings by a combination of ingenuity and hard work.

Anticipating the rain, the six staff at the small Cumbrian track covered the Woodside dip section of the track with silage sheets on Wednesday, and after pumping off tens of thousands of litres of surface water after Wednesday's heavy rain had passed, they were able to safeguard the going for this Saturday's and Monday's fixtures.

When a job is well done it deserves a pat on the back, and that is certainly due to the ground staff at Cartmel.

Youmzain pleases in Gallop.

With Kieran Fallon likely to ride Youmzain in next weekend's Grosser Preis Von Baden, it was crucial the old campaigner proved his well being in a pre race gallop, and according to trainer Mick Channon he looks to have recaptured his old sparkle ahead of next week's preparation race for another crack at the Prix de L'Arc de Triomphe, a race in which he has come in as runner up for the last two seasons.

Economic pressure causes cuts in value of Irish Classics.

During these harsh economic times, Horse Racing Ireland have found themselves between the proverbial rock and hard place as they try desperately to cut their overall budget by 17% for 2010. Today, they have been forced to announce cuts in the value of the 2010 Irish Classics as follows: Irish Derby - down in value from 1.5 million euros to 1.25 million euros, Irish Oaks - down in value from 500,000 euros to 425,000 euros, and the Boylesport sponsered Irish 1,000 and 2,000 Guineas - both cut from 400,000 euros to 325,000 euros.

It is almost certain these cuts in the Classics will have to be accompanied by cuts in the value of many other major races during 2010, as HRI wrestles with the problem of working within a greatly reduced budget.

Tonight's card at Hamilton cancelled.

The heavy rain which hads been causing cancellations in Ireland over the past few weeks, is now beginning to have its effects on British racing, and unfortunately, the first casualty is this evening's meeting at Hamilton.

With racing having been abandoned due to unraceable conditions, the Hamilton executive have confirmed anyone with pre-booked tickets for this evening's fixture should contact the racecourse as soon as possible.

However, corporate hospitality will go ahead as planned, with a live band, entertainment and betting on other race meetings still available to corporate guests.

We're monitoring the Monitor Closely situation!

After Thursday's latest decleration stage, there are currently only 11 horses left in the Doncaster St Leger line up, and with trainer Peter Chapple Hyam and Monitor Closely's owner Lawrie Inman due to have a meeting today, the main subject believed to be on the agenda is the possibility of Inman paying out the £45,000 needed to supplement last week's Great Voltigeur victor for the flat season's last Classic.

Peter Chapple Hyam indicated yesterday, owner Inman may see an opportunity with only 11 entries due to start the mile and three quarter Group One, but he also suggested Inman may consider an outlay of £45,000 to be a risk he is not prepared to take at this stage of his horse's development.

Kings Apostle retired through injury.

Kings Apostle seemed to be coming into his own in recent weeks, and his win in the six and a half furlong Group 1 Prix Maurice de Gheest earlier this month at Deauville was very impressive, and seemed to have set the scene for a good late season campaign.

However, trainer William Haggas has learnt his stable star has now picked up a career ending injury, and with great regret, the decision has been made to retire Kings Apostle with immediate effect.

Speaking to the Racing Post, Haggas has indicated his desire that a UK based stud position should be found for his Group 1 winning sprinter, as the trainer believes if Kings Apostle progeny inherit his ability and temperament, they will be in great demand.

Ryan considering Dundalk raid for Our Jonathan.

With just 24 hours to go before the actual meeting, North Yorkshire trainer Kevin Ryan is still undecided as to whether to send his promising six length Pontefract juvenile winner Our Jonathan over to Dundalk for tomorrow's Listed five furlong Danehill Dancer Stakes. Musing over his decision, Ryan said on Thursday,

"He was very impressive at Pontefract, and I have no doubt he is a serious horse, but sending an inexperienced juvenile to Ireland has its risks, so we will have to see."
