Murtagh talking up a treble.

It was in 1996 when Frankie Dettori rode all seven winners of tomorrow's corresponding card at Ascot, and while Johnnie Murtagh is not aiming at seven winners, he does think he has a great chance of collecting a treble aboard Ballydoyle horses at tomorrow's Ascot meeting.

Regardless of Godolphin's prenouncements about the fitness of Delegator, Murtagh is extremely bullish about the chances of Rip Van Winkle in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes,

"Everyone knows I love this horse, but Rip Van Winkle is in better form than when he won the Sussex Stakes, and Delegator will have to improved immeasurably if he is to reverse the Goodwood form."

Murtagh also believes he can have success on You'll Be Mine in the Meon Valley Stud Fillies Mile, while he is also quietly confident Mikhail Glinka can upset Godolphin's Frozen Power in the Royal Lodge Stakes.

Scoop Six could reach three quarter million mark.

With nearly half a million already in the combined Win and Bonus Pots for tomorrow's Scoop Six bet, Totesport are hopeful the combined totals for Saturday's six leg bet could top the three quarter million pound mark.

To get your hands on such riches, you have to find the winners of the following six races:

Leg 1 - 2.05 pm Market Rasen.

Leg 2 - 2.25 pm Haydock Park.

Leg 3 - 3.00 pm Haydock Park.

Leg 4 - 3.15 pm Market Rasen.

Leg 5 - 3.35 pm Haydock Park.

Leg 6 - 3.40 pm Ascot.

Meehan delighted about the return of Red Rocks.

When Red Rocks last represented Brian Meehan on a racecourse, he defeated the mighty Curlin in the Man O'War Stakes in the United States. After that success his connections decided to transfer him to Mark Hennig's stable in America, and quite frankly, after the move he disappointed, and was last seen finishing unplaced in the Sheema Classic in Dubai earlier this year.

Following the Dubai race, connections had a change of heart, and the six year old was sent back to Meehan in an attempt to salvage his racing career.

After considerable work, Meehan is due to give Red Rocks an outing in Sunday's Grosvenor Casinos Cumberland Lodge Stakes at Ascot, and it will be interesting to see if the old campaigner retains any of the form which saw him win the Breeders Cup Turf at Churchill Downs in 2007.

Charlie Hall Chase becomes six figure attraction.

As most national hunt fans will know, the Bet365 Charlie Hall Chase is the highlight of the Wetherby two day meeting which ushers in the start of the big race programme of the national hunt season, (this year on 30 & 31 October), and the race will this year have extra kudos, as for the first time, it will be worth £100,000.

Wetherby executive are delighted Bet 365 have helped them to realise the dream of providing the Yorkshire course's richest ever race, and it is already attracting tremendous interest with last year's winning trainer Evan Williams indicating he may run last year's winner State of Play, plus stable mates Capa Blue and Deep Purple.

Kempton and Channel 4 close to historic arrangement.

An arrangement between Channel 4 and Kempton Park racecourse to screen an early morning race meeting alongside the Channel 4 Morning Line is reported to be very close to fruition.

The brainchild of Channel 4's racing producer Andrew Franklin, the idea has met with approval from the Kempton executive, and it is understood Kempton Park managing director Amy Starkey is now consulting the training and owning fraternities to ascertain if the level of support will be sufficient to enable the project to take place.

Cheka checks out for another season.

Eve Johnson Houghton has today confirmed The Cheka will miss the rest of this season. The 2008 Solario Stakes winner suffered setbacks and injuries which kept him off the track until he landed a Newbury Conditions race in July of this year. The form of the Newbury race has worked out very well with the second, third, and fourth all scoring in good company since losing out to Johnson Houghton's stable star.

The handler is being philosophical about the current setback,

"He came back from Newbury in a bit of a state, and rather than rush him back into action this season, we intend to help him back to one hundred per cent fitness, and then hopefully, we will have a very good season with him as a four year old."

Elusive Award run dependant on morning workout.

Andrew Oliver's unbeaten Elusive Award is having a workout this morning which will decide if he lines up in Sunday's Juddmonte Beresford Stakes at the Curragh. Explaining the situation, Oliver elaborated,

"There are a couple of minor things which concern me about his fitness at present, and I will not run him if I think he is not one hundred per cent. If he were to miss the Beresford, we would probably go straight to the Racing Post Trophy next month."

Royal Lodge in grip of Frozen Power.

Tomorrow's Royal Lodge Stakes is the usual competitive juvenile affair, but it is hard to see past Godolphin's Frozen Power as the potential winner.

Brought on with due care and attention, he has already won his three starts this season, and despite the presence of stable mate Vale of York, all vibes suggest Frozen Power is the stable number one for Saturday's contest.

The Ballydoyle pair of Joshua Tree and Mikhail Glinka do not seem to be amongst the favoured horses in the O'Brien camp, so it may be up to John Dunlop's progressive Waseet to throw down the main challenge to potential Godolphin dominance of the race.

There was a lot to like about Waseet's last success at Sandown, and although the Royal Lodge represents a step up in company, owner Hamdan al Maktoum's horses can do no wrong at present.

Amongst the other entrants, Black Spirit and High Twelve are held in high regard by their respective trainers, so any market moves in their favour on Saturday may be worth following on an each way basis.

Hughes gives vote of confidence to board members.

A week before departure from his record eleven year tenure in charge of the Levy Board, Rob Hughes has expressed his total confidence in the remaining members of the board, and despite the travails effecting the racing industry at present, he expects the existing members to capably manage the future finances of the racing industry.

Youngest Scudamore branching out.

Former champion national hunt jockey Peter Scudamore's youngest son Michael is to set up a satellite yard from his current employ with Andrew Reid in London.

Young Scudamore has made no secret of the fact he would like to become a top flight trainer in due course, and this first step is part of his development plan towards his ultimate goal.
