Three punters share Scoop Six Bonus.
Although there were enough punters to cover all the horses in today's Bonus race for the Scoop Six Bonus Fund, they did not work together, and eventually three punters were skilled enough to select Knot In Wood in the Skybet Dash, each securing an additional £209,864 to add to the near £45,000 they won last week.
Treble heaven for Stoute in King George.
Not only did Ryan Moore choose the right horse in Conduit, but Sir Michael Stoute scored a historic one - two - three in today's Group 1 King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot.
Aidan O'Brien's Rockhampton set the pace for stable companion Golden Sword, the latter taking it up as the field entered the home straight, but the Stoute trio were stacking up to land their challenge, and as soon as all three jockeys committed, Golden Sword quickly faded, eventually having to settle for fifth place. Ryan Moore's mount Conduit quickened the better of the three Stoute entries, and he won today's mile and a half prestigious prize on merit. Tartan Bearer just did enough to deny Ask for the runner up spot, while Alwaary did his best work in the home straight, scoring a well deserved fourth place.
Al Muheer lands Abu Dhabi Handicap shock.
Having kept all his rivals waiting at the start, the Clive Brittain trained Al Muheer put in a late winning run to land today's Abu Dhabi International Handicap at odds of 40/1.
The market leaders Roaring Forte and Captain Brilliance were hard at work two furlongs out, and it looked like third favourite Secret Society would land the spoils, but Al Muheer's strong finish pushed the younger horse into the runner up spot. Redford ran on for third, with six furlong specialist Genki showing he getts further by obtaing a sound fourth in today's ultra competitive handicap.
Knot In Wood shows his class in Dash.
Bouncing back from his disappointing fourth in the Scottish Stewards Cup at Hamilton Park, The Richard Fahey trained Knot In Wood today showed the form which won him the Group 3 Chipchase Stakes at Newcastle's Northumberland Plate Meeting. Coming late, he got the better of a tough battle with Barney Mcgrew in the final strides, with the poor starting Excusez Moi coming through for third place.
Kirklees very impressive in Skybet York Stakes.
John Gosden's Tazeez led the field for a mile of today's Group 2 ten furlong Skybet York Stakes at the Knavesmire, but Frankie Dettori had kept extremely well supported favourite Kirklees handy throughout the race, and when the Godolphin horse was asked to quicken, he did so willingly, extending his lead as he completed the final two furlongs.
Allied Powers ran-on for second place, while Tom Tate's South African import Kings Gambit ran a solid third in his first ever outing in Britain.
Lady of the Desert boosts Royal Ascot form.
After High Spice had set the early pace in the six furlong Group 3 Princess Margaret Abu Dhabi Stakes at Ascot, Lady of the Desert vindicated her favouritism by storming into the lead in the final furlong, and although Full Mandate made late headway, Brian Meehan's filly was never in danger.
The winner also boosted the form of the Queen Mary Stakes at the Royal Ascot meeting, where she failed to bother the judge.
Nideeb ruins it for Party Doctor.
With a furlong to go, Party Doctor seemed to have the Listed Winkfield Stakes all wrapped up, but Ryan Moore conjured an excellent late run from Nideeb, and just took the spoils on the line in today's keen two year old heat at Ascot.
The front two look worth following, as they finished well clear of their rivals in today's seven furlong contest
Hannon senior at odds with his son over Paco Boy?
On Thursday, Richard Hannon junior suggested Paco Boy was more likely to line-up at Deauville than in the BGC Sussex Stakes at Glorious Goodwood, but in an interview yesterday, Richard Hannon senior indicated he was keen for his Queen Anne winner to take his chance at Goodwood.
At face value, this looks like an internal difference of opinion, but in truth, we suspect Paco Boy's next target will be entirely dependant on the state of the ground at Goodwood. If it remains good or better, Paco Boy is likely to take his chance over the one mile trip of the Sussex Stakes, but if the forecast rain alters the track conditions to the soft side of good, the multiple pattern race winner is likely to go for a shorter trip at Deauville in August.
Master to appear at Goodwood.
Speaking on behalf of new owner Al-abdulmalik, Newmarket trainer Debbie Mountain has confirmed recent Ballydoyle acquisition Master of the Horse will appear in the Gordon Stakes at Glorious Goodwood. The three year old will then go to his Qatar businessman owner's purpose built yard in the Gulf, where he will undergo racing preparation for the Prix Dollar at Longchamp's Arc Meeting in October.
High Heeled will now move back up to Group company.
Having accounted for Sir Michael Stoute's Ave by two and a quarter lengths in yesterday's Listed Lyric Stakes at York, connections of the Barry Hills trained Epsom Oaks third High Heeled confirmed the three year old daughter of High Chaparral will now move back up to Group company for her next outing.
