Serious Attitude looks good.

At Racingsight,we have been advised Serious Attitude looked seriously good in her gallop at Newmarket this morning, combine that with Fantasia's excellent performance in the Nell Gwyn Stakes, and it is making us think Rainbow view is at a prohibitively low price for a filly who has not shown proof of her well being prior to next week's 1,000 Guineas.

Victory just a Pipe Dream.

When Pipe Dreamer took an apparently decisive three length lead at the furlong pole of today's Group 3 Gordon Richard Stakes, it seemed the race was all over, but John Gosden's charge had not taken into account the stamina of Tartan Bearer, and Sir Michael Stoute's four year old proved his Derby second last year was no fluke as he relentlessly gathered in Pipe Dreamer, before snatching the race by a short head on the line.

With connections admitting before the race their four year old would need today's contest after such a long lay off from the track, it would seem likely a Group 1 victory over a mile and a half is a real possibility for Tartan Bearer during the remainder of the season. As for Pipe Dreamer, it would appear he is going to have the same problem as last season in that he finds it difficult to get his head in front where it matters - at the winning post.

Paco Boy makes it look easy.

Given a good lead by Kandidate, Paco Boy denied his Group 1 penalty in great style as he eased to victory under Richard Hughes in today's Group 2 Celebration Mile at Sandown Park.

Around two furlongs from home Paco Boy and John Gosden's Virtual took up the running from Kandidate, but while Hughes was just keeping the Richard Hannon trained favourite up to his work, Virtual came under pressure a furlong from home, and was eventually pipped for second place by the late finish of Dream Eater.

Based on this performance, Paco Boy will get the mile easily this year as a four year old, and he must now be one of the favourites for the Group 1 Juddmonte Lockinge Stakes at Newbury next month.

Three share Scoop Six win.

When Downhiller scored in the Class 2 two mile contest at Ripon, three lucky ticket holders shared today's Scoop Six Win Fund, each receiving £310,408, and they will get the opportunity to add around four hundred thousand pounds to their winnings when competing for next week's Bonus Fund.

McCoy magic lands Gold Cup for Llewellyn yard.

For a long way in today's Bet 365 Gold Cup Irish Grand National runner up Church Island seemed to have the rest of the field in trouble as he set a good pace under Dennis O'Regan, but at the last of the railway fences on the final circuit he was caught by course specialist Lacdoudal, and then it looked like the Philip Hobbs camp would capture today's big chasing prize. But in a finish of changing fortunes, Briary Fox took it up at the last, and looked certain to gain the victory for Shropshire trainer Henry Daly, only for A P McCoy to conjur a late run from the Carl Llewellyn trained Hennessy , and with that inimitable McCoy drive, he managed to get Hennesy's head in front on the line.

This was another display of brilliant horsemanship from A P, and the large crowd at today's Sandown meeting were privileged to watch a great professional at the height of his powers.

The difference in two chasers.

The story of today's Celebration Chase at Sandown revolved around two horses. The Paul Nicholls trained Twist Magic was on a going day, and once Ruby Walsh took it up at the railway fences, his victory was never in doubt. Cruising to victory by several lengths, today showed just how good Twist Magic is when he fanciies the chasing game.

Meanwhile, Arkle runner up, and Aintree winner, Kalahari King never jumped a twig. Right from the first fence his jumping was poor, and despite Graham Lee's best efforts he barely improved as the race progressed. It is therefore a great testiment to the young chaser, that on a non-going day, he stayed on in the final stages to snatch second place off Mahogany Blaze.

Imperial Commander confirmed for Guinness Gold Cup.

With the going at Punchestown looking certain to be soft, Nigel Twiston Davies has confirmed Ryanair Chase winner Imperial Commander will take part in the Guinness Gold Cup during next week's Punchestown Festival.

A race too far for American Trilogy.

County Hurdle winner American Trilogy was never going for Ruby Walsh in today's 1.35 pm at Sandown, and he did well to finish in third place behind Alcidar and Gringo.

For trainer Laura Mongen and jockey Chris Bolger Alcidar's easy victory in a Grade 2 proved a very useful pay day in the last official national hunt meeting of the season.

Gowran Park Sunday fixture cancelled.

After heavy overnight rain, the inspection of Gowran Park was brought forward to this morning, and after only a cursory glance, it was obvious the track was waterlogged, and officials were left with no alternative but to cancel tomorrow's planned meeting.

Evasive suffers minor setback.

News coming out of the Sir Michael Stoute yard indicates Evasive suffered a minor setback in training on Friday, but it is thought the problem is not sufficient to negate his chances of participating in next weekend's Stan James 2,000 Guineas.

Heffernan and Yeats seek treble.

With Johnnie Murtagh once more undertaking Ballydoyle riding duties in France, Seamie Heffernan will for the third year in a row deputise on Yeats in Sunday's Vintage Crop Stakes at Navan. But Heffernan has history on his side, for in 2007 and 2008 he has ridden Yeats to victory in this particular race, before the outstanding stayer has then gone on to land the Ascot Gold Cups for those respective years.

Talking about Yeats's chances of scoring a treble by winning this year's Vintage Crop Stakes, Heffernan commented,

"He is as forward and fit as he has been in previous year's, and although I do not expect it to be easy, I believe he has the class to see him through on Sunday".

Sans Frontiere heads to Dante.

Following his promising second to Delegator in the Craven Stakes, Jeremy Noseda has decided to step Sans Frontiere up in trip, and he is now on course to take on the likes of Crowded House in the Dante Stakes at York.

Great Leighs fixtures lost for 2009.

With no buyer coming forward to purchase Great Leighs racecourse from administrators Deloitte, this year's planned fixtures for the Essex venue will now be divided up amongst alternative tracks.

Furthermore, if a potential owner for the first british racecourse in eighty years cannot be found within the next month, it will be too late for the course to submit applications for the 2010 season. In fact, unless the major creditor RBS Nat West is prepared to soften its position in future negotiations with potential buyers, Great Leighs is in danger of having no future at all!

Linda Perratt soon back in action.

Following her split with the owner of Bellstane Racing Stables, Linda Perratt has just about completed the conversion of her family home at Northallerton Farm in East Kilbride, and after an absence of five months, she is expecting to relaunch her training career with an initial string of fifteen horses, with her first runners being entered in races at the end of May, or the beginning of June.

Sir Clement's last book due for release in June.

Prior to his death, Sir Clement Freud had been working in collaboration with Racing Post staff on an anthology of some of his best racing stories. The book entitled, 'The Racing Lives of Clement Freud' was originally due for release in the autumn, but after a lot of hard work, the title is now due for release on Oaks day in June.

Take our advice, if you do not buy any other book on racing this year, invest in this title. For knowing Clement's quirky way of looking at horse racing, it will be a great read and a great advertisement for horse racing.
