Will it ever end?
In what is now officially the wettest August since 1913, the ever present rain has claimed another race meeting. Tomorrow's planned fixture at Newcastle has had to be cancelled due to a waterlogged course.
Yesterday morning, racecourse officials had hoped to stage a revised fixture of races on the one mile straight course, but further overnight rain has scuppered even this limited alternative.
