Mansony returns to winning ways.In today's rearranged Normans Grove Chase at Fairyhouse, Tubling Dice and Watson Lake led the runners into the straight, but Thyne Again just seemed to be biding his time, and the second last he duly took it up. But he soon emptied on the heavy ground, and jockey Davy Russell conjured a well timed run out of Arthur Moore's Mansony, going on to win by six lengths. Harold Bluetooth makes good start.Harold Bluetooth, who is named after the King who united Denmark during the tenth century, yesterday started his 2009 campaign with a good victory on Kempton's all weather surface. An entry in this year's Lincoln, he immediately attracted a number of supporters for the Doncaster handicap, with his anti post price being immediately cut - see our page on Anti Post Market Moves Heavy going suits Alpha Ridge.Novice hurdler Alpha Ridge demonstrated his love for heavy going when he led from start to finish in yesterday's Grade Two Galmoy Hurdle at Gowran Park. If any of the long distance hurdles at the racing festivals of Aintree, Fairyhouse, or Punchestown offer heavy going, then Alpha Ridge should be on the short list of potential winners. Barber Shop may go straight to Gold Cup.What a difference a day makes! Yesterday, after being pulled out of this Saturday's Letheby and Christopher Chase, it hadd been suggested Barber Shop would seek an alternative prep run before taking his chance at the Cheltenham Festival. Award proves BBC's horse racing expertise. On Wednesday, the BBC picked up gold at the Broadcast Awards for their coverage of the 2008 Grand National, and from this acknowledgement of their expertise in the coverage of horse racing, one is bound to ask the question- If they are so good at covering horse racing, why do they wish to diminish their opportunities to provide coverage? If you have not yet joined the petition to ask the BBC to rethink their cut backs in horse racing coverage, you can still sign up on the Number 10 Downing Street website. Breeds Breeze may by-pass Cheltenham.Having turned in a lack lustre performance at last year's Cheltenham Festival, Paul Nicholls is said to be discussing with owner Jim Lewis, a plan which would allow Breeds Breeze to by-pass this year's Royal and Sun Alliance Chase. It is thought the trainer intends to enter Breeds Breeze in the Reynoldstown Chase, and providing he is sound after that race, a run in the novice chase at the Aintree Grand National Festival in April could be his preferred option. Davies keeps Original ride.Original, the french trained suprise winner of the Wayward Lad Chase at Kempton Park, is a confirmed runner in this year's Arkle Trophy at Cheltenham. Former Wragg stable to be shared. The Abington Place Stables, formerly occupied by now retired trainer Geoff Wragg, is to be shared by South African based Mike de Kock, and Jane Chapple Hyam. De KKock has leased a section of the yard for the last two years, and he has used it very effectively for the training of his european based horses, such as Eagle Mountain. It is understood, the new arrangement will enable De Kock to expand his current european operations for members of the Maktoum family. Jane Chapple Hyam, who has also tasted considerable success in recent seasons, will also use her share of the Abington Yard to expand her racing operations.
