Cesarewitch run still on for Aajel.

A slight muscle pull may have prompted Marcus Tregonning to withdraw Aajel from yesterday's Cesarewitch Trial at Newmarket, but today, the handler has confirmed it is not a major problem, and he expects his five year old to line up in the Cesarewitch itself next month.

When Hannon changes his mind_ _ _.

It was only three weeks ago, Richard Hannon indicated his South African import JJ the Jetplane would not race before Hong Kong in December, but over the last three weekends he has appeared in sprint races, and despite disappointing the first two weekends, he put in a much more promising run over the inadequate trip of five furlongs in a Newbury Group 3 yesterday. As a result of that run, Hannon has totally rewritten his original prenouncement, and instead he has decided to give the former Mike de Kock trained charge yet another run in next Sunday's Group 2 Diodem Stakes at Ascot.

Distinctive considered as Classic prospect by Smart.

The Brian Smart trained Distinctive may have been considered an outsider by punters prior to her unexpected 33/1 victory in Ayr's Firth of Clyde Stakes, but the handler had always held the juvenile filly in high regard, and he is now weighing up his options, with a possible Classic Trial now a 'distinct' likelyhood before the end of the season.

Tidal Bay has satisfactory wind operation.

A comprehensive winner of the Cheltenham Arkle Trophy in 2008, the Howard Johnston trained Tidal Bay disappointed despite putting in commendable performances in several of last year's major steeplechases.

However, it now appears the obviously talented steeplechaser may have been having breathing difficulties during his races, and owner Graham Wiley has confirmed, under veterinary advise, Tidal Bay has undergone a 'wind operation'. Wiley has further confirmed the operation appears to have been a complete success, and the owner is looking forward to Tidal Bay returning to his 2008 form when he restarts his steeplechasing career later this year.

Scoop Six scuppered by long priced winners.

Nearly a quarter of a million pounds was invested on trying to win yesterday's Scoop Six prizes, but some long priced winners at Ayr and Newbury meant by leg four only three tickets remained, and when Michael Jarvis's Almiqdaad landed the John Smiths Cup, all interest was ended.

This means next week's Scoop Six Win Fund will start with a pot of £331,650, while the Bonus Fund will re-open already containing £142,136.

Cox considering options for Jimmy.

Speaking after his five year old Jimmy Styles had scored his biggest ever success in Saturday's Ayr Gold Cup, trainer Clive Cox commented on his future plans for the sprinter, and said,

"If the ground shows some cut before the end of the season, we may think about stepping him up to Listed or Group class, but as he is certainly on an up curve at present, I would think a trip to Dubai over the winter is a distinct possibility."

Emmpat a good late recruit to chasing.

Over the years, Emmpat has been a very useful hurdler, and showed he is still useful over the flat when finishing third in a handicap last Wednesday, but trainer Charlie Swann must be delighted, at the age of eleven, Emmpat has taken so well to steeplechasing, and by winning yesterday's Listowel highlight, the Guinness Surge Novice Chase, he took his record over the larger obstacles to two runs - two wins.

Speaking after the success, Swann said,

"It is wonderful to have such a versatile horse. We may now go for the novice chase at Roscommon, or we may revert to the flat at Dundalk. Either way, I think he may have a good novice chase win in him providing the ground stays good or better."

Early reappearance on the cards for Redford.

Having finished tenth overall in yesterday's Ayr Gold Cup, but third home amongst the runners on the unfavoured high drawn side, connections of Redford believe he would benefit from a step back up to seven furlongs, and Harry Herbert the spokesperson for owners Highclere Racing, has suggested their four year old may make a rapid return to action in next week's seven furlong Totesport Challenge Cup at Ascot.

Drunken Sailor could head for Chepstow.

Having returned to Ireland after Saturday's exertions, Drunken Sailor is reported to be in fine form after his close second on the flat to Almiqdaad in yesterday's John Smiths Stakes at Newbury. Trainer Paul Flynn is now reported to be considering sending his dual purpose charge back to Britain for the williamhill.co.uk Handicap Hurdle at Chepstow on 10 October.

Motivator could miss 2010 stud duties.

The progeny of 2005 Epsom Derby winner Motivator have been performing well this season, with his daughter Pollenator recently landing the Group 2 May Hill Stakes at Doncaster, but there are now major concerns a serious tendon injury may prevent the Classic winner from undertaking his stud duties during 2010 - a potential major loss to his stud, and the racing industry as a whole.
