Twenty punters share Scoop Six prize.
Thanks to Tony McCoy's superb ride on No Strings Attached, twenty punters each collect £48,711.60 from the win fund of today's Scoop Six, and they will all go forward to next week's Bonus Fund of £619,728.
If a few of the winning tickets are with syndicates, it is likely there will be a block selection on next week's Bonus race, so it is most likely this will be won and shared amongst today's winning tickets.
McCoy does it again!
A P McCoy conjured another fantastic late run to land this afternoon's Listed Summer Plate Steeplechase at Market Rasen. After the last fence, it looked between Peter Bowen's No Panic and Jonjo O'Neill's Keep It Secret, but it was McCoy on stable mate and favourite No Strings Attached who put in a tremendous late run to snatch the spoils on the line.
Keep It Secret was the unfortunate runner-up, with No Panic holding on to third from novice King Troy.
Crime Scene revels in soft conditions.
Godolphin's second string Crime Scene led from start to finish in today's Listed Shadwell Beech House Stud Stakes at Newbury, and obviously loving the soft underfoot conditions, he ran on gamely to hold off his more fancied stable mate Covert Ambition by a length, with Trafford Guard a neck further back in third position.
With Prince Siefried being withdrawn at the start, punters lucky enough to select the 25/1 winner had the misfortune of suffering a five pence in the pound reduction on all winning returns.
Richard Hughes gives favourite backers a few nervous moments.
Despite rearing at the start, when the William Haggas trained lightly weighted Shamardar took the lead from Archers Road at the furlong pole of today's Whetherbys Supersprint, supporters of favourite Monsieur Chevalier must have thought they had no chance of landing the spoils, but over the last two hundred yards, Hughes urged the favourite to quicken, and he responded, just getting up in the shadow of the post.
The dependable Archers Road held on for third place, with top weight Red Avalanche taking fourth position.
Monsieur Chevalier gave trainer Richard Hannon his seventh success since 1991 in this particular Sales race.
Barshiba the all the way winner of Plantation Stakes.
Jamie Spencer ran a very 'canny' race aboard Lancashire Oaks winner Barshiba in today's Listed Plantation Stakes at Newmarket. Leading all the way, he wound up the pace from the front, and only Princess Taylor, who finished second, and the three year old Uvinza, who finished third, managed to mount any kind of challenge over the final stages.
High Standing continues his improvement.
The William Haggas trained High Standing continued his unbeaten run for this season in today's Shadwell Stud Hackwood Stakes. The Wokingham winner progressed from top class handicaps to Group 3 level in impressive style when landing this afternoon's six furlong prize at Newbury.
With War Artist and Prime Defender battling it out at the two furlong pole, Ryan Moore brought High Standing with a beautifully timed run, and he passed his rivals at the furlong pole, going on to win with ease, with Prime Defender taking second, and Doncaster Rover running on in the final strides to deny War Artist for third place.
Another discovery for Twiston Davies.
Nigel Twiston Davies has obviously found another useful hurdler, for his Cootehill proved too strong for the fancied Danehill Willy and bottom weight Ameek in this afternoon's Listed Summer Hurdle at Market Rasen.
Joining Danehill Willy at the second last, Cootehill proved the stronger, running on to win by two and a quarter lengths, while Ameek ran on at the finish to share second place with the Tony McCoy ridden Danehill Willy.
Condon sidelined by broken ankle.
Unfortunately for jockey Davy Condon, medical staff have confirmed he has a broken ankle following his unseating from Jawad in last evening's Gigginstown House Stud Midlands National at Kilbeggan.
Condon has recently returned to Irish racing after acting as stable jockey to Nicky Richards in Britain, but the injury could put him out of action for up to two months.
Dramatically reduced prices at Fairyhouse.
Fairyhouse are offering a fantastic incentive for potential first time race goers, for at tomorrow's meeting, adults can gain entry for just 5 euros, while children are admitted free of charge.
Sunday fixture at Redcar abandoned.
After a thorough inspection of the course at lunchtime today, officials at Redcar have declared the course unraceable due to waterlogging, and tomorrow's fixture has now been abandoned.
Ripon goes ahead today.
Despite torrential rain yesterday, after an early morning inspection today's fixture at Ripon goes ahead.
Johnson Houghton aiming high with The Cheka.
After a 321 day lay-off due to niggling injuries, The Cheka bounced back with a neck win over Ashram in yesterday's Shadwell Nunnery Stud Conditions Stakes at Newbury. Prior to the run, handler Eve Johnson Houghton had suggested the lightly raced son of Czar would be only 80% fit for yesterday's contest, so a victory was a very pleasing result for all concerned. Looking to the future, the trainer commented,
"He is a real racehorse, and as you have to have a long term goal, I think if we can get him fully fit, I would like to give him a crack at the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot".
