Betfair rumour not true say connections.

The suggestion coming out of the Betfair organisation about the possibility of a big name supplement for the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes may be true, but it seems Sariska will not be the name of the supplemented horse.

Connections for yesterday's facile Irish Oaks winner have this afternoon confirmed, the Yorkshire Oaks at the Knavesmire in August is likely to be the next target for the three year old 'super filly'.

Kent Bloodstock in profit after Deposer sale.

The eight man ownership syndicate Kent Bloodstock, set up by racehorse trainer John Best, are today celebrating a handsome profit on their original investment after they sold Jersey Stakes runner up Deposer to new ownership in Hong Kong.

It is understood from the new owners, Deposer will now attempt to further his racing career at the major tracks in the Far East, but a return to Royal Ascot next year has not been ruled out as a long term goal.

For those who like historical moments.

Following Ffoslas's first ever race meeting under national hunt rules, we would remind racing spectators who like to be present at moments of racing history, the South Wales track will be staging its first ever flat meeting a week on Tuesday, 21 July. Although demand for tickets has been good, it is still possible to obtain entry to this next milestone in Ffoslas's development.

If you would like to book tickets during this week, you can either call Ffoslas directly, or you can book through Racingsight by ringing 0191 417 8744.

We would also remind those who like the social side of racing, Stratford racecourse are staging their Ladies Day this coming Sunday 19 July, and apart from the usually competitive racing, there will be plenty of prizes on offer for the best dressed Lady and Gentleman.

Nicholls eyeing another Galway Plate success.

Having won the Galway Plate with Oslot last year, leading British national hunt trainer Paul Nicholls is reported to be especially preparing Roby de Cimbre for this year's remewal of the prestigious highlight of the Galway Festival.

However, leading Irish national hunt trainer Willie Mullins is also keen to be victorious in the Galway centrepiece, and this year's current Galway Plate top weight Deutschland was a pleasing winner at Dundalk yesterday, and providing he comes out of that race in tip top condition, he could well be a major challenger to any Nicholls repeat victory on 29 July.

Thirty stand their ground in Supersprint.

At today's five day decleration stage, thirty juveniles remain involved in the Whetherbys Supersprint Stakes over five furlongs at Newbury this coming Saturday.

Karl Burke's Norfolk Stakes runner up Regnier still holds an entry, but the Newbury race may come too soon after his recent fourth in last week's TNT Sprint at Newmarket.

Richard Hannon has a tremendous record in Sprint Sales Races, and amongst the current five entries he still has in Saturday's two year old highlight, his formerly unbeaten Monsieur Chevaliere may have a point to prove after he lost his chance in the argy bargy of the Norfolk Stakes at Ascot.

The consistant Archers Road had seemed to appear in a juvenile race virtually every week prior to Royal Ascot, but Mick Channon has given his well exposed type a break prior to Saturday's contest, and this may prove to be an educated move to rekindle the kind of form he showed in his Beverley Conditions Stakes victory back in May.

Goodwood the plan for gelded Four Winds.

Following his disappointing sixth position behind Glass Harmonium in Royal Ascot's Hampton Court Stakes, Her Majesty the Queen's one time Derbby hope Four Winds was gelded, and trainer Michael Bell reports he has bounced back so quickly from the operation, it is quite likely the three year old will re-appear in the Listed Thoroughbred Stakes on 01 August at Glorious Goodwood.

Chester and Ascot seeking urgent talks with Jockey Club Racecourses.

Jockey Club Racecourses, the owners of Newmarket, are said to be considering a request to the BHA to alter their July Meeting from a Wednesday, Thursday, Friday fixture to a Thursday, Friday and Saturday Meeting, with the July Cup becoming the highlight of the Saturday card.

Representatives of both Chester and Ascot, who stage the current premier fixtures on the Saturday following the Newmarket July Meeting, are obviously concerned the JCR proposal could badly effect the standard of their own races, not to mention the number of spectators attending their fixtures should the Newmarket proposal be approved by the BHA. With this in mind, officials at Chester and Ascot have asked for urgent talks with their counterparts at Jockey Club Racecourses.

Park Hill target for Lady.

Connections of Irish Oaks runner up Roses for the Lady were reported to be delighted with her front running performance, and they are now reported to be aiming their three year old filly at the Park Hill Stakes at Doncaster in September.

Walsh return upstaged by Fehily treble.

While many people made the trip to Stratford races yesterday afternoon to see Ruby Walsh back in British action following his two month lay-off with a broken ankle, they actually failed to witness a Walsh victory as fellow jockey Noel Fehily rolled up an 841/1 three timer for separate trainers.

Fehily began his excellent afternoon with a win aboard the David Evans trained Classic Shot, (8/1). He continued with success on top weighted Is It Me for John Mackie, (16/1), and rounded off his trio with a thirteen length victory on Donaldson for Jonjo O'Neill, (9/2).

Hannon and Channon defend their respective jockeys.

Trainers Richard Hannon and Mick Channon yesterday defended the actions of jockeys employed by their respective stables.

Hannon tore into the criticism handed out by Racing UK commentator Lydia Hislop and analyst Steve Mellish relating to Jimmy Fortunes riding of Paco Boy in Friday's July Cup at Newmarket. The Racing UK pair went out of their way to criticise Fortunes riding tactics aboard the proven Group One miler Paco Boy in Friday's six furlong sprint, but Hannon was not impressed with the pair's interpretation of events, and on his website he had this to say about the criticism of his jockey:

"The Racing Uk pair cut Jimmy to pieces, and I found their crirticism most unfair. It is obvious from the comments made, neither of them have experience of riding at the highest level, because I have never heard so much nonsense talked after a race".

"The facts are - Paco Boy could not go the early pace, and then he became unbalanced in the Newmarket Dip. Once he met the rising ground he took off, and these so called 'experts' do not seem to understand many horses have difficulty in negotiating the Newmarket Dip, and on Friday Paco Boy fell into that catagory - So criticism of Jimmy Fortune is totally unfounded".

In a separate critical article, Mick Channon described the decision by the Ascot stewards to give his apprentice Michael Geran a three day ban for Careleless Riding as, "The worst stewarding decision I have seen in my twenty years in the sport".

Channon was referring to an incident in the Normington Court Fillies Handicap, were Geran seemed to go for a legitimate gap on his mount Silver Games, but there followed a scrimmage in which Geran appeared to bebarged out of the way by Jamie Spencer aboard the James Fanshaw trained Alsace Lorraine. After the race, the stewards gave both Spencer and Geran three day bans for Careless Riding, but Channon yesterday strongly disagreed with the decision by the stewards, saying,

"Michael should not have been banned! He was the victim in Saturday's race, and it is as simple as that".
