Sariska oh so impressive at the Curragh.

Today's running of the Irish Oaks at the Curragh may not have been the most competitive in recent history, but if ever a filly has won a Classic in better style than today's favourite Sariska, then we would like to see the evidence.

Led along for most of the contest bby the front running Roses for the Lady, Sariska never seemed to get out of a hack cantor for partner Jamie Spencer, and without even being asked, she glided past the Irish pace setterin the final two furlongs, to win with her head still on a tight bridle.

Roses for the Lady held on for the runner up spot, with Henry Cecil's Midday having to settle for third place on ground which was probably too soft for her racing action.

Based on this evidence, a St Leger on soft ground may persuade trainer Michael Bell to suggest connections supplement Sariska for the Doncaster end of season Classic.

However, it is far more likely connections will now eye the Prix de L'Arc de Triomphe on probable soft ground at Longchamp as the three year old dual Classic winner's ultimate goal.

Anglesey prize taken by Walk On Bye.

Trainer Tommy Stack appears to have another very useful young sprinter in his yard, for Walk On Bye retained her unbeaten record in impressive style in today's Group 3 Anglesey Stakes at the Curragh. Popped the question by jockey Wayne Lordan at the furlong pole, the juvenile filly settled the contest in just a few strides, easing to a length and three quarters win over the very useful yardstick King Ledley.

After the race, the Stack camp announced Walk On Bye would have one more outing before trying to land the Goffs Million Sprint later in the summer.

Black Quartz follows in illustrious footsteps.

In recent years the Witney Moore EBF Stakes has produced winners of the quality of Teofilio and New Approach, while Sea The Stars finished fourth in last year's contest, so today's winner of the Curragh seven furlong race must be taken very seriously as a potential Classic horse in 2010.

As today's renewal unfolded, Johnnie Murtagh took early control of the tempo of the race on the Aidan O'Brien trained Black Quartz, and controlling from the front, he ran out a 'clever winner' by half a length from Jim Bolger's Reiteration, the latter also running a very pleasing race on his first ever outing on a racetrack.

Oxx statement suggests no King George for Sea The Stars.

In an interview with At The Races today, John Oxx confirmed he is looking to give Sea The Stars three more runs this season, but the marked comment we picked up on during the interview was -

"It would be only three weeks between his fast time Eclipse win and a re-appearance in the King George at Ascot, and this may not be in his best long term interests"

- and we feel this comment suggests Oxx may advise connections they should by-pass the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes in favour of a run at York in the Juddmonte International during the Ebor Meeting in August.

O'Brien confirms four for Grand Prix de Paris.

At the final decleration stage for Tuesday's Group One Juddmonte Grand Prix de Paris at Longchamp, Aidan O'Brien has confirmed four of his original six entries will take part in the mile and a half contest. Stable number one jockey Johnnie Murtagh has decided to ride Lingfield Derby Trial winner Age of Aquarius, while the Ballydoyle operation will also be represented by Dante Stakes first and second; Black Bear Island and Freemantle, the quartet being made up by recent controversial Gowran Park winner Hail Caesar.

Imbongi may head to Arlington Million.

Mike de Kock was very pleased with Imbongi's close up third in yesterday's Ascot Summer Mile, and the South African trainer believes his charge is still progressing, and with this thought in mind, the trainer is to suggest to connections they aim the four year old at this year's Arlington Million.

Gio Punti wins Man O'War.

The Cristophe Clement trained Gio Punti landed his third consecutive Grade One when winning last night's prestigious Man O'War Stakes at Belmont Park. Despite an unfavourable draw, jockey Ramon Dominguez put his mount in the right position as the field entered the home stretch, and Gio Punti did the rest, surging clear to score by a length and three quarters over Muskateer, with German raider Quijano back in third.

Ex John Murphy filly wins again.

Tuscan Evening, who was second past the post in last year's Irish 1,000 Guineas before being demoted to fourth by the stewards, continued her fantastic run of success since being moved from John Murpphy's stable in Ireland to Jerry Hollendorfer in the United States.

While with Murphy, the filly never managed to get her head in front on eleven occasions, but since moving to America, her victory in last night's Grade Two Royal Heroinne Stakes at Hollywood Park represented her fifth win in six races. Connections are now hoping she will continue to progress, and are hopeful of landing a Grade One prize before the end of the 2009 campaign.
