Fame and Glory lives up to his name.

Not only did Fame and Glory remain unbeaten in today's Derrinstown Derby Trial at Leopardstown, but he made it quite apparent he is the horse to beat in this year's Investec Derby at Epsom. Turning in a devastating turn of foot in the final stages under replacement jockey Seamie Heffanan, he defeated the John Oxx trained Mourayan by five lengths, and showed he possesses the same qualities as Galileo and High Chapparal, who also won this race before going on to Epsom Derby fame and glory.

Frost skates past rivals for Guineas victory.

Harrogate businessman John Cotton was absolutely delighted when his french trained Silver Frost won this afternoon's French 2,000 Guineas at Longchamp. Brought with a withering run on the outside of his field by jockey Christophe Soumillon, the colt proved far too good for runner up Le Havre and Freddie Head's Naaqoos, winning today's Group 1 by an easy two lengths.

However, after the race, Naaqoos was found guilty of interference and was demoted to sixth, with Aidan O'Brien's Westfalia being promoted to third place in a race were he obtained no sort of run.

Oxx has another Guineas prospect.

Riding confidently up with the pace in today's Derrinstown Stud 1,000 Guineas Trial at Leopardstown, jockey Michael Kinane only had to ask the John Oxx trained Baliyana to go about her business in the closing stages, and she secured an impressive two and a half length win from Jim Bolger's late finishing Aaroness.

If the filly can improve on this run in the Irish 1,000 Guineas at the Curragh later this month, she could well provide John Oxx with his second Guineas winner of the current flat campaign.

Fantasia disappoints in Poule d'essai des Pouliches.

French trainer Jean-Claude Rouget ended Luca Cumani's hopes of winning today's French 1,000 Guineas when his two runners proved too good for Fantasia on the day.

Elusive Wave had taken over the running with three furlongs to go, and although Frankie Dettori asked his filly for more at the two furlong pole, the devastating burst she showed in the Nell Gwyn Stakes failed to materialise, and near the line she was demoted to third behind Elusive Waves stable mate Tamazirt.

After the race, Luca Cumani suggested the filly did not show her best on the day over a mile, and she may require ten furlongs to show her best. If the owner is agreeable, Cumani intends to return Fantasia to France for the mile and a quarter Prix de Diane, rather than lettin George Strawbridge's filly face the mile and a half trip of the Epsom Oaks.

See U Bob returns to form.

Having landed today's Ladbrokes Odds On Loyalty Card Handicap Hurdle at Killarney, Paul Nolan's See U Bob will now be prepared for a run in the Galway Hurdle at the world famous Galway Festival in July.

In today's event, the six year old made all the running, and galloping and jumping fluently, he made a nonsense of his poor performance at the Fairyhouse Festival over Easter, staying on stoutly in today's contest to finish in front of the Willie Mullins trained Dani California.

Condon to return to Ireland.

Having taken over as stable jockey from Tony Dobbin at the Nicky Richards yard, Davy Condon seemed to indicate this would be a fruitful relationship when he rode Monet's Garden to victory in the Grade 2 Peterborough Chase at Huntingdon in the autumn. But since then, the relationship has not blossomed, and Condon and Richards have agreed to end their relationship after just one year.

It is understood Condon will return to Irish racing, while Richards is reported to be in no hurry to appoint a new stable jockey.

Quartet Win Placepot Dividend.

With some long priced winners in yesterday's Scoop Six races, it was fairly inevitable the main bet was not won, but four lucky punters did manage to win a placed horse dividend of £10,616.30.

With the main bet not being claimed, next week's roll-over on the Win fund is £169,451, while the Bonus Fund has now risen to £76,621. Based on previous models, this means a potential winner of next week's bet could obtain a total of around four hundred thousand pounds if winning both the Win and Bonus Funds.

Head happy with Marchand D'or.

Freddie Head is said to be very happy with the fitness of Marchand D'or prior to his return to action in today's five furlong Prix de Saint-Georges at Longchamp.

It will be interesting to see if Europe's top rated sprinter can start this season in the same style as his consecutive wins at the beginning of the 2008 campaign, particularly as he faded a little at the back end of last season, and now has to prove he is the best all over again.

Dettori lucky to achieve Mastery in Italian Derby.

In an incident packed Derby Italiano in Rome, Jakkalberry, who wasleading the field in the home straight, jinked unexpectedly into the running rail, and completely lost his action. This left Frankie Dettori on Godolphin's Mastery with a clear lead, and the half brother to Kirklees stayed on strongly to win the Group 1 contest by a length and a half from Turati, with the hapless Jakkalberry running on for third place.

French sale overcomes recessionary pressures.

At yesterday's Arqana Breeze Up Sale at Saint Cloud racecourse, the present world economic woes seemed not to exist as the average lot price was up an impressive 7% on the corresponding 2008 sale, with the top 76% of horses trading at an average of 41,649 euros, which was an increase of 20% on the 2008 figure.

It is to be hoped, the obvious gallic confidence in the future of horse racing will now transfer itself to the sales in Britain and Ireland.
