Delegator could head to Curragh.

Brian Meehan has today confirmed connections of Newmarket 2,000 Guineas runner-up Delegator are seriously considering trying to obtain compensation by winning the Irish 2,000 Guineas at the Curragh later this month. Speaking in an interview today, Meehan commented,

"If he is fit and well, and the ground is suitable, there is a distinct possibility Delegator could compete at the Curragh".

Lesson in Humility handed out to rivals.

Taking it up two furlongs from home in the six furlong Listed Kilvington Fillies Stakes at Nottingham, Lesson in Humility kept plenty in reserve as first Look Busy, and then Carsinetto tried to wear her down, in the final stages, but the game filly actually won with some to spare, and could go on to bigger prizes later in the season.

Age of Aquarius battles back for dour victory.

Aidan O'Brien's Age of Aquarius may be inexperienced as a racehorse, but after his run in the Lingfield Derby Trial, no one can now doubt his battling qualities.

Made to lead from the start of today's contest by partner Johnnie Murtagh, at the two furlong from home pole the Galileo colt seemed well beaten, but he battled back, and snatched today's Group 3 contest on the line.

There is no doubt Age of Aquarius will improve for this experience, and he could even be better suited by the St Leger distance later in the season.

Beacon Lodge returns to form in Spring Stakes.

Beacon Lodge, who was a very useful two year old, but then disappointed as a three year old, returned to winning ways in today's Spring Stakes at Haydock Park.

Welsh Emperor set his usual cracking early pace, and seemed to have set the race up for Richard Hannon's consistant Ordnance Row, but Beacon Lodge obtained a rail run in the final stages, and went on to win quite cleverly.

Midday very impressive in Lingfield Oaks Trial.

The Henry Cecil trained Midday went around the Lingfield Park grass circuit like she was on rails, and ran out a very impressive winner of today's Listed Oaks Trial. If she handles the similar track at Epsom in the same style, she has at least a chance of being placed in the June Classic.

Today''s runner up, July Jasmine, has plenty of stamina, and on a flatter track, she is quite likely to pick up a middle distance pattern race before the end of the current season.

Meehan trained outsider lands Victoria Cup.

Following the withdrawal of long time anti post favourite Prescription this morning, last week's Newmarket winner Evens and Odds, and Richard Fahey's Fish For Compliments battled for the favourites tag prior to the off of today's race, but as soon as the action started in the Ascot Victoria Cup, Markab and Fish For Compliments set a verystrong pace, and it was fairly inevitable they would both pay for their efforts in the latter stages.

However, the first four home in the Class 2 race suprised all but the most clairvoyant punters, with Brian Meehan's twenty five to one shot Swift Gift coming through for victory from Nezami, Dhaular Dhar and Signor Peltro.

Former claimer wins Swinton Hurdle.

Ellerslie Tom set a cracking pace right from the start of the Grade 3 Swinton Hurdle at Haydock Park, and by the time the field entered the home straight for the final time, the long time leader had most of the other runners struggling, but both Joe Jo Star and Hot Diamond continued to run on. At the line, the former claimer Joe Jo Star prevailed from the battling Ellerslie Tom and Hot Diamond, with Danehill Willy putting in an eye catching late run for fourth place, no mean achievement after nearly eighteen months off the track with injury.

Duncan could now head to Royal Ascot.

John Gosden's Duncan added the first race at today's Ascot meeting to his recent victory at Epsom, and the trainer has indicated he may return to Ascot for the Hardwicke Stakes at the Royal Meeting in June.

Calvados Blues back on track.

After putting in a poor performance in his previous outing on soft going, the well regarded Calvados Blues put himself back in the picture for the French Derby with a good win in yesterday's Prix de Guiche at Chantilly.

Trainer Philippe de Marcstal was delighted with his three year old, and confirmed the French Derby would now be the next target providing ground conditions were no worse than good.

Interesting line-up for Musidora.

When the entry stage for the Tattersalls Musidora Stakes was re-opened yesterday morning, ten fillies registered for next week's contest on the Knavesmire.

High Heeled from the Barry Hills stable has been extremely well supported in the Oaks market since her victory over the Queenn's Four Winds in a Conditions Stakes in April, but Sir Michael Stoute may have a line through this form, and it is therefore interesting that he has entered Her Majesty's Enticement in the York contest. Enticement was last seen when winning the Montrose Stakes from 1,000 Guineas third Super Sleuth last November, but reports indicate she has been working very well at home.

Another interesting entry is the well regarded Sariska, who was a little unlucky in running when finishing fourth in the Fred Darling Stakes at Newbury.

However, Jim Bolger never sends his fillies over to Britain for the good of their health, so the fact he has two entries in the form of Maid in Maith, and Curragh listed winner Oh Goodness Me, could be very significant.
