Maximum field for Champion Hurdle. At today's forty eight hour decleration stage, the maximum entry of twenty four horses have stood their ground in Cheltenham's Tuesday highlight of the Champion Hurdle. Long time anti post favourite Binocular is joined by four other former champions; Brave Inca, Catch It, Hardy Eustace, and Sublimity. Although a short priced favourite in the anti post market today, the bookmaking firms suggest if the rain continues to fall, Binocular may start to drift in price over the next couple of days. Elsworth chosen for Brave Inca.Top northern based jockey Dominic Elsworth has been chosen by trainer Colm Murphy as the partner for former champion Brave Inca in Tuesday's Champion Hurdle. Brave Inca is the one horse in the field who will not be worried by the onset of the rain, in fact the more it rains, the better become his chances of recapturing his Champion Hurdle crown. O'Regan bullish about Red Moloney chances.Denis O'Regan is stating in no uncertain terms he expects Red Moloney to figure amongst the principals in Friday's Triumph Hurdle. "He is extremely well bred, goes on any ground, and has done everything right in his preparation for the race, so I expect us to be right there as we climb the Cheltenham hill" for the final time. Naas snowed off.Today's meeting at Naas was lost to an unseasonal and sudden heavy fall of snow. It is thought the meeting will be rescheduled, but full details will follow on Monday. First day will probably be soft!Cheltenham Clerk of the Course Simon Claisse has reported the current ground conditions on the various Cheltenham courses is on the soft side of good, but with more rain forecast over the next forty eight hourse, the going for the first day of the Festival is predicted to be soft. In the Champion Hurdle, this will certainly be a hinderance to Sublimity and Won in the Dark, it will not help favourite Binocular, but it could bring former champion Brave Inca into the reckoning. Main players still in Triumph line-up.At the five day decleration stage, thirty five novice hurdlers have stood their ground in next Friday's Triumph Hurdle, including the two market leaders Zaynar and Walk On. If the rain continues to fall, this would seem to suit Walk On, who has proven form on soft and heavy going, while Zaynar still has to show he can cope with a soft surface. Lord Shanakill will prepare for Guineas run.Based on his pedigree, last season's Mill Reef Stakes winner Lord Shanakill would appear to be more suited to a top class sprinting career rather than attempting to capture middledistance Group One prizes. However, trainer Karl Burke believes, although his three year old has not yet run over distances further than seven furlongs, his runner up performance in the Dewhirst Stakes indicated he would certainly get a mile, and with that in mind, Lord Shanakill will prepare for a run in this year's Newmarket 2,000 Guineas with an outing in the Greenham Stakes at Newbury. Australian sprinter blasts out a warning to potential Ascot rivals. This season's top rated Australian sprinter Scenic Blast scored in his second Group One when winning the Crown Newmarket Handicap at Flemington Racecourse on Saturday. When jockey Steven Arnold pressed the button at the furlong mark, Scenic Blast turned in a devastating turn of foot to pip Swiss Ace by a short neck. Perth based trainer Daniel Morton has now indicated his intention to bring Scenic Blast to Royal Ascot, where he will compete in at least one of the major sprints held during the five day meeting.
