O'Brien has over a quarter of the entrants.

At today's first forfeit stage for the Epsom Derby, Ballydoyle maestro Aidan O'Brien is responsible for thirty six of the remaining one hundred and thirty eight entrants.

It is known O'Brien is keen to win the Epsom Classic for the third time, and his Coolmore owners will not be inconvenienced if they pick up the one and a quarter million pounds on offer for this year's Derby.

Twenty nine left in Ballymore.

At today's latest decleration stage the main protagonists are still included in the remaining twenty nine entrants for the Ballymore Properties Hurdle. The unbeaten Diamond Harry is joined by Karabak, who will carry the J P Macmanus colours for the first time next Wednesday afternoon. Meanwhile, Willie Mullins has left Cousin Vinny and Kemps in the race, but he is most likely to be represented by the unbeaten Mikael D'Haguenet, while the well supported anti post mover The Nightingale is also likely to line up next Wednesday.

Hayley Turner injuries worse than expected.

Contrary to the rumour stating Hayley Turner would leave Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge as early as yesterday afternoon, an official spokesperson has now confirmed although Hayley is feeling better, she will have to stay in the hospital for several days, as she is still suffering from the after effects of the head injuries sustained during Tuesday's stalls training accident on the Newmarket gallops.

Notra Pere out of Gold Cup.

Jim Dreaper's Welsh Grand National winner Notra Pere has incurred a training setback, and he has now been ruled out of participation in next Friday's Cheltenham Gold Cup.

Cheltenham decide not to water.

Cheltenham Clerk of the Course Simon Claisse has every reason to feel a little smug this morning, for his decision not to water the Prestbury Park courses has been proved to be correct. The rain over the last twenty four hours has evidently made the course quite soft, but based on the weather forecast, it should dry out into perfect jumping ground by next Tuesday, and no artificial watering should be required.

Moore will decide nearer the time.

Gary Moore knows his Vino Griego needs ground which is no worse than good to soft if he is to have any chance in next Wednesday's Champion Bumper, so the trainer will make a final decision on his youngster's participation in the early part of next week.

Mullins currently mob handed for Cheltenham.

As of this morning, County Carlo trainer Willie Mullins still has twenty two horses declared for next week's races at Cheltenham. Apart from Cousin Vinny and Kemps in the Supreme Novices Hurdle, he has high profile entrants in the form of Gold and Silver in the Arkle Trophy, Mikael D'Haguenet in the Ballymore Properties Hurdle, and Cooldine in the Royal and Sun Alliance Chase, but his biggest entry of no less than fourteen horses is in the Champion Bumper, a race he has made his own over the last few years.

Speaking yesterday, the trainer indicated he would probably whittle his final squad down to around fourteen to sixteen horses, but he also stated that all of the horses he brings to Cheltenham will have real chances of winning their respective contests.

At this afternoon's decleration stage, Willie Mullins cut his Champion Bumper entrants down from fourteen to nine, but there were no suprises, and all his well supported horses have stood their ground.

Paddy Power offer fantastic Cousin Vinny concession.

With Cousin Vinny being supported into as low as two to one for Tuesday's Supreme Novices Hurdle, it seems the average punter believes he is a virtual certainty, and if this is the case, then the offer made by Paddy Power yesterday afternoon is to say the least, very generous.

Ireland's leading independant bookmaker have decided if Cousin Vinny wins the Supreme Novices, they will refund all losing win and each way single bets on the race.

Is it just me!

When I heard about the story in yesterday's Irish Times, where the paper were highlighting the practise by some banks to refuse mortgages to customers who had on-line bookmaker accounts, it made me extremely angry!

In the first instance, many of us have on-line bookmaker accounts, but we are not reckless gamblers, it is just if you are busy, it is an easier way to have a flutter than having to pop down to the betting shop.

But my main anger is directed at the hypocrits running the banking institutions. How dare they deny ordinary people a mortgage for having a reasonable on-line flutter. Are we the ones who in recent years have gambled and lost billions, if not trillions in the morgage markets? Are we the ones being bailed out by governments and the tax payers? Or is this just another cynical attempt by the banks to find another way to avoid lending money?

Can't Buy Time misses William Hill Trophy.

For some undisclosed reason, former anti post favourite Can't Buy Time has been withdrawn from the William Hill Trophy. The move prompted a major switch of allegiance amongst anti post punters to stable mate Wichita Lineman.

Naaqoos en route to Newmarket.

Having been included in the initial eighty eight entrants for the Newmarket 2,000 Guineas on 02 May, trainer Freddie Head has confirmedNaaqoos will participate in the Newmarket race.

A winner of three of his four races as a two year old, Naaqoos was particularly impressive when winning the Prix Jean-luc Lagardere on Arc day at Longchamp, and if he retains that form, he will certainly be involved in the final stages of the Guineas.
