Fallon foiled on first ride back.
Kieran Fallon found it was not all going to be plain sailing on his return to race riding when his well fancied mount Rare Malt could only finish second for Fallon in his first race in eighteen months.

Fallon's three other rides at Lingfield could only muster a fourth place, and this evening at Kempton, Wigan Lane gave him a third position, while his best ride of the day, Gerard Butler's well regarded Arte Viva could only achieve another runners up spot for the returning jockey.
Following his rides, Fallon commented,
"I am fit and feel fine in myself, but I need to bbrush up my knowledge of the actual courses and become a wee bit sharper on my tactical awareness. But looking at my list of rides for the weekend, I am very hopeful I will break my duck sooner rather than later."
Hearts of Fire lands German Group 2.
It is not normal for Brocklesby Stakes winners to go on to Group 2 winning success, but the Pat Eddery trained Hearts of Fire obviously was not aware of this precedent, and under a confident ride from Olivier Pesslier, Eddery's charge stormed through to land a two length victory over Noble Alpha in this afternoon's Group 2 Zufunkfts-rennen at Baden Baden.
Second week for Scoop Six.
With a roll-over of £71,885 from last week, this week's Win Fund on the Scoop Six wager will be around £150,000.
Now, to win the above sum, all you have to do is pick the winners of the following six races:
Leg 1 - 1.55 pm Haydock Park.
Leg 2 - 2.25 pm Haydock Park.
Leg 3 - 2.55 pm Haydock Park.
Leg 4 - 3.10 pm Kempton Park.
Leg 5 - 3.30 pm Haydock Park.
Leg 6 - 3.40 pm Thirsk.
Roscommon given re-arranged fixture.
Having already lost its two fixtures for next Monday and Tuesday due to a waterlogged course, Roscommon racecourse has been given an additional fixture by Horse Racing Ireland. The new meeting will occur on 29 September, and will be added to the existing date of 28 September to create a two day meeting.
Mullins weighing up options for Sesenta.
Willie Mullins is apparently in no hurry to decide as to where Ebor Handicap winner Sesenta will compete at this year's Doncaster St Leger Meeting.
The filly has entries in the Group 2 Park Hill Stakes and the Group 2 Doncaster Cup, but Mullins will not decide until the early part of next week as to whether she will take up either of these options, or whether she will be aimed at an alternative target in Ireland or France.
Star could wreck Hannon plans in Sirenius Stakes.
Richard Hannon has two very good two year old sprinters lining up in tomorrow's Group 3 Sirenius Stakes at Kempton Park, and many pundits would assume he will land the winners prize with either the prolific Monsieur Chevalier or the progressive Angels Pursuit. But they will both have to go to catch the revitalised Star Rover.
The latter showed at York's Ebor Meeting he had returned to the multi winning form of the early season, and Kempton's sharp course may well suit his front running style. Either way, the Hannon pair will probably have to work hard if they are to keep up their trainer's prolific winning record in this particular juvenile contest.
O'Brien planning flying raid for Air Chief Marshall.
Air Chief Marshall has been highly tried by Aidan O'Brien this season, but albeit a little inconsistant, as his second in the Phoenix Stakes proved, he has undoubted talent.
It is therefore interesting to note, he is still amongst the 66 entrants for the Weatherbys Insurance £300,000 Sales Race at Doncaster next week, and it could be O'Brien is seeking a nice prize to reward his youngster for all his hard work this season.
If Radio Head takes up his option to run in the same race, he will have to give a minimum of eight pounds to all his rivals, so it is likely the Nunthorpe Stakes third may sidestep this contest in favour of a pattern race engagement.
Home team outnumbered in Prix du Moulin.
The Jean-Claude Rouget trained Oiseau de Feu and Elusive Wave, along with Andre Fabre's Calvados Blues, are the only french horses entered in this year''s running of the Group 1 Prix du Moulin which is run at Longchamp this coming Sunday.
By comparison, British horses dominate the entries. Ascot Summer Mile winner Aqlaam found Goldikova too good on his last run in the Prix Jacques le Marois, but that recent form puts William Haggas's charge at the head of the british quintet.
John Gosden's Lockinge Stakes winner Virtual may get some cut at Longchamp, and this could revitalise his somewhat disappointing form since Newbury.
Clive Cox's Balthazaars Gift is in the form of his life, as his clear cut win in the Hungerford Stakes recently proved. Whereas, Godolphin's Gladiatorus is on a retrieval mission, having put in lack-lustre displays since his scintallating performance in Dubai in March.
Summer Fete is the last British raider, and although progressive this season, it is hard to imagine Brian Meehan's charge actually winning this ultra competitive race.
Conversely, the sole Irish raider - Dermot Weld's Famous name - has won his last three outings at the Curragh, including two Group 3 races, and he appears to be in the form of his life.
Oxx issues fresh warning over Sea The Stars.
John Oxx has today warned, the ground at Leopardstown will have to improve during the day if he is to risk the unbeaten Group 1 record of stable star Sea The Stars in tomorrow's Tattersalls Millions Irish Champion Stakes.
It is understood, the current ground conditions at the Dublin track are described as yielding, but it is hoped some dryer weather predicted for today should improve Saturday's going to good to yielding, and this may be enough to persuade Oxx to commit Sea The Stars to a run in tomorrow's ten furlong contest.
However, this saga probably has a twist or two left in the tail, so we will bring you the latest news as it happens.

Late this afternoon, jockey Michael Kinane gave an upbeat statement on Sea The Stars, saying he was stronger than ever, and if one dare read between the lines of this statement, it would suggest Sea The Stars is going to take his chance in tomorrow's Irish Champion Stakes.
Ballinrobe the latest casualty.
The constant pourings from the heavens have caused yet another casualty in the Irish racing programme. After an early morning inspection, the track at Ballinrobe was declared as waterlogged by Turf Club officials, and as a result, the meeting planned to take place on Sunday 06 September has been cancelled.
Clonmel and Kilbeggan meetings re-scheduled.
Although lost to waterlogging, the meetings originally due to take place on Thursday 03 September at Clonmel, and Friday 04 September at Kilbeggan, have now both been re-scheduled into a revised Irish racing calendar for next week.
Clonmel will now take place on Monday 07 September - original entries will stand, and the first race will take place at 4.25 pm.
Kilbeggan will now take place on Friday 11 September - new race entries will be accepted up to Monday 07 September, with next Friday's first race taking place at 2.55 pm.
Daraahem a major doubt for Cesarawitch.
News coming out of the Barry Hills camp suggests Daraahem is a very doubtful runner in this year's Cesarawitch. Not seen on the track since winning the Chester Cup in May, the four year old has been plagued by a series of setbacks and injuries, and with another nniggle having put back his preparation for Newmarket's October marathon, assistant trainer Charlie Hills is quoted as saying,
"As things stand, he is far more likely to miss the Cesarawitch than he is to participate."
O'Brien very happy with Leger duo.
In a statement wwhich could be regarded as ominous by fellow trainers, Aidan O'Brien has indicated he is very happy with the preperation and condition of Age of Aquarius and Changingoftheguard ahead of next week's Doncaster St Leger.
Age of Aquarius has obviously been prepared for the final Classic since his dour win in the Lingfield Derby Trial. While the progressive Changingoftheguard may well have won the Totesport Ebor against older rivals if he had obtained a better start and a trouble free run.
It would be fair to say, based on his victory in the Geoffrey Freer, Godolphin's Kite Wood deserves to be anti post favourite for the St Leger, but if O'Brien thinks his two entrants are in tip top form, there will have to be no chinks in Kite Wood's armour if he is to see off the Ballymore colts a week tomorrow.
Pressing noses out Dream Eater in Turkey.
Michael Jarvis obtained the best possible boost as he recovers from heart valve surgery at Papworth Hospital in Cambridge, for last night, his Pressing won the Group 2 Topkapi Trophy at Viliefendi racecourse in Istanbul.
Neil Callan had to be at his best to see off a determined challenge by fellow British raider Dream Eater, but his nose victory gave the six year old Pressing his ninth victory at Group level, and his second successive victory in this particular race.
On the same card, the Mick Channon trained Halicarnassus got himself into a pocket during the running of the mile and a half Bospherus Cup, but once partner Alan Munro got him into the open, he flew home, landing the Group 2 contest by half a length from the locally trained Pan River.
