Tote Scoop Six rolls over again. There were only three tickets active by the fifth leg of today's Scoop Six Bet, and Don't Push It's win ended all interest. With both funds rolling over to next week, the Win Fund will start with a pot of £373, 225, while the Bonus Fund starts with a roll over of £159,953. Mon Mome a great win for Venetia.Okay, Mon Mome's victory in the Grand National at 100/1 will send the bookies away happy, but the real winner is trainer Venetia Williams. As a jockey Venetia broke her neck at Becher's Brook while riding in the National, and she had to give up riding in favour of a training career, and now, she is on top of the world of national hunt racing! Although in today's race Mon Mome eventually won by a large margin from last year's winner Comply or Die, with two fences to go, there were at least eight horses in with a chance of victory, but twenty three year old Liam Treadwell on his first ever ride in the National, passed Ruby Walsh on favourite My Will immediately after the second last, and although Comply or Die tried to go with Mon Mome, there was only going to be one winner after the last fence. Mon Mome now joins Foinavon as the two longest priced winners of the world's greatest steeplechase, and that fact alone should almost certainly put him in the history books. The only poor result for the bookmakers was the third and fourth placings of My Will and State of Play, both of whom were well supported by each way punters. Don't Push It wins at last.Don't Push It, who has been fancied for so many races, only to disappoint, finally got his head in front in today's pre-national handicap chase. Under a patient ride from A P McCoy, the Jonjo O'Neil trained gelding made ground throughout the final circuit, and took it up between the last two fences. With the jockey just keeping him up to his work, he won by a sizeable margin from the running on Leading Contender. Solwit travels best to land Aintree Hurdle. The Charles Byrnes trained Solwit got the best of a tough battle over the final furlong with Fivefourthree in today's Grade 1 Aintree Hurdle. As the field entered the home run, for a while it looked like Al Eile, who had found a runthrough on the rails, would secure his fourth win in the race, but his lack of race fitness told after the second last hurdle, and the John Queally trained nine year old ran on at one pace to eventually finish fourth. Fivefourthree, who was only having his second run back from injury, looked the potential winner for a stride or two after the last obstacle, but Solwit, under a strong drive from Davy Russell, had too much for the Willie Mullins runner, and he went on to score his biggest career win to date. King imperious in Maghull Chase. From a long way from home Made in Taipan and Tatenen took each other on for the lead of today's Grade 1 John Smith's Maghull Novices Chase, but just as Tatenen seemed to have the upper hand, jockey Graham Lee, who was having his first ride back after an injury, produced the Arkle Chase runner up Kalahari King with a telling run. Once the Ferdy Murphy trained novice took it up at the second last, the race was over as a contest, and another fine jump at the last enabled Kalahari King to score a relatively easy six length victory. This kind of form would suggest both Kalahari King and his Cheltenham conqueror Forpadydeplasterer, could feature in next year's Queen Mother Champion Chase, and may be worth an early speculative each way gamble. Bouggler Battles back for victory. As expected, today's first Aintree race, a Grade 2 contest over two miles four furlongs produced a typical close finish to a novice hurdle. At the second last, three horses could stake a claim to be the eventual winner, and although all three jumped badly at the last, they all remained in contention. For a brief moment, Richard Johnson on Copper Bleu seemed to have the measure of Noel Fehily on Bouggler and A P McCoy on Ainama, but as Ainama weakened into eventual third place, Fehily pushed Bouggler back up on the inside of second favourite Copper Bleu, and managed to snatch the race by a neck at the line. As this was only Bouggler's second run, he could be a very useful prospect in the senior ranks for trainer Ema Lavelle during the 2009 2010 national hunt season. The Day Arrives! The 'hype' will soon be over, and at 4.15 pm this afternoon, forty horses will set off on the greatest steeplechase in the world. It is estimated today's Grand National will be watched by around six hundred million people in one hundred and forty countries, and the betting turnover on this single race could top three hundred and fifty million pounds, with around fifteen million people placing a bet, many for the first time. If you would like to place a bet, click here, and this will take you to our Anti Post page, where you will find a linkentitled, 'Open A Horseracing Betting Account', and on that page you will find a range of respected bookmaking firms, just click on the one you recognise, and you will then find easy instructions as to how you can open an account and place your bet on today's Grand National. Grand National course change of going. As we predicted in yesterday's Grand National News, the overnight precipatation of 4.5 millimetres of rain on the Aintree courses has changed today's big race going to good to soft. As a guide to novice punters - On this type of ground, it is usually best to find a horse who has a proven level of stamina in long distance races, rather than a horse who has never won a race beyond three miles. Tipperary sprints moved to Dundalk.Due to on-going drainage work on the Tipperary five furlong sprint course, the five furlong sprints planned for Tipperary on 09 April have been replaced by seven furlong contests, and the sprint races have been transferred to Dundalk's meeting on 11 April.
