Repeat combination win today's Listed Longchamp race.

For the second day in a row, owner The Aga Khan and jockey Christophe Soumillon combined to land a major prize as they were successful in another Listed race at Chantilly this afternoon.

Soumillon drove out the Prince's Daryakana from last to first, and then she had the determination to hold on by a head from Burn The Breeze in today's 2,400 metre contest.

The three year old filly remains unbeaten in her three starts this season, and a spokesperson for the Aga Khan suggested she may be stepped up to a Pattern race for her next outing.

Small stake - big win!

One small punter in Bedworth today placed a 20 pence lucky 15 in a Betfred shop, and an hour and a half later he had turned his £3 stake into £25,502.17 as all four of his long priced selections obliged.

Well done that man!

Clonmel call early cancellation.

In our earlier story - see below - we indicated Clonmel were due to hold an inspection tomorrow morning to ascertain if racing could go ahead on Thursday, but today's heavy rain over Ireland has already turned the course into a waterlogged mire, and so an early decision was taken this afternoon to abandon tomorrow's planned fixture.

Yeats run now in jeopardy.

With most of the racecourses in Ireland now turned into sodden backwaters, even Aidan O'Brien is expressing his concerns about the possibility of Yeats having to miss the Irish Field St Leger on 12 September.

O'Brien has made no secret of the fact Yeats does not like soft or heavy ground, and if the non-ending rain over Ireland continues to soak the Curragh, the trainer has confirmed his four time Ascot Gold Cup winner will miss the Irish Classic if weather and ground conditions do not improve over the next ten days.

Borderlescot to miss Ayr Gold Cup.

After being allocated 10 stones 4 pounds for this year's Ayr Gold Cup, even trainer Robin Bastiman and the dual Nunthorpe winner's three sporting owners think it would prove too much, and so Borderlescot will miss the race for the first time in the last four years.

United likely to be retired.

After returning from a major injury to have an excellent season over hurdles during the 2008 2009 national hunt campaign, the Lucy Wadham trained United has suffered another injury setback as she was preparing for this coming season, and now connections have decided the time has come for the talented hurdler to move on to another career as a brood mare.

Entries and weights announced for Caulfield and Melbourne Cups.

2007 Melbourne Cup winner Efficient, and reigning Cox Plate victor Maldivian have been given joint top weight of 58.5 killograms in this year's list of entries for the Caulfield and Melbourne Cups. As usual, there are a host of worldwide entries, including; Godolphin's Eastern Anthem, Schiaparelli and Kirklees - Dermot Weld has three entries headed by Profound Beauty, who finished fifth in last year's Melbourne Cup and is currently unbeaten this season - Luca Cumani will be represented by Cima de Triomphe and Basaltico - Marcus Tregonning sends recent Lonsdale Cup winner Askar Tau - Mike de Kock is represented by two former Ballydoyle inmates Macarthur and King of Rome - Meanwhile, Aidan O'Brien will be responsible for four three year old entries headed by Age of Aquarius and Changingoftheguard - Sir Michael Stoute sends Doctor Fremantle and Warringah - Ian Williams is hoping to send recent Chester Stakes winner Munsef - While Mourilyan, who so far this season has been under the training direction of Gary Moore is also amongst the current entries.

Killarney cancelled as rain tumbles down.

This evening's meeting at Killarney passed an early morning inspection, but when the rain started to fall in torrents as the day progressed, even the possibility of an all hurdle card receeded, and as waterlogging re- occurred, officials of the Turf Club gave into the inevitable and called tonight's meeting off.

Ghanaati back in full training.

Barry Hills has confirmed Ghanaati has recovered from the jarring she suffered during the Sussex Stakes at Glorious Goodwood, and he also reports the dual Group 1 winning filly is back cantoring ahead of a run in either the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot, or the Sun Chariot Stakes at Newmarket.

Rip not certain for QEII.

Aidan O'Brien has admitted today, getting Rip Van Winkle fit in time for the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot on 26 September is proving difficult, as the stable have to be sure not to damage the Sussex Stakes winner's delicate hooves during his preparation work. O'Brien even admitted,

"If he had not had so many problems with his feet, I am sure he would have won a lot more races this year. As it is, we will do our best to get him to Ascot in one piece."

If Rip Van Winkle does miss Ascot, he may go to Dundalk for the course's Breeders Cup Trial in early October, as he holds an entry in the race along with stable companions Fame and Glory and Mastercraftsman.

Today's weather could hold sway for Sea The Stars.

After rain on Tuesday, Leopardstown racecourse changed their official going from good to firm to good to yielding, but it is the amount of rain which falls on Dublin today which could hold sway over Sea The Star's participation in Saturday's Irish Champion Stakes.

John Oxx has made no secret of the fact he will not contemplate running his brilliant three year old on ground any worse than good to yielding, but the amount of rain which has fallen so far today appears to be heavy, and although the forecast for the remainder of the week suggests showers, the participation of Sea The Stars this weekend will almost certainly depend on how Leopardstown stands up to today's deluge.

Al Eile could go to Newmarket.

Al Eile was last seen failing to complete a four timer in the April Aintree Hurdle, but it would be fair to say, he was not entirely fit for the race, as his 2008 2009 season was ravaged by injury.

However, trainer John Queally is delighted with the way Al Eile has started training this season, and the handler is now contemplating an initial spin on the flat in the Cesarawitch at Newmarket prior to a return to hurdling in the Fighting Fifth Hurdle at Newcastle.

Al Eile is no stranger to Newmarket's long distance finale, having finished fourth behind Legspinner in the 2007 running of the race, and with a weight of 8 stone 10 pounds for this year's contest, if on top form, he could be in the frame again this year.

Two other interesting entries for this year's Cesarawitch are double Galway Festival winner Bahrain Storm, and the Barry Hills trained Daraahem, the latter not having been seen in action since winning the Chester Cup back in May.

Askar Tau likely to meet Geordieland.

Marcus Tregonning yesterday confirmed his York Lonsdale Stakes winner Askar Tau is in fine form, and is due to line-up against Jamie Osborne's Geordieland in the Group 2 DFS Doncaster Cup on 11 September. Although Askar Tau has not won on going worse than good, the trainer is confident he will handle potentially soft ground at Doncaster, and Tregonning also belives the two and a quarter mile trip will not inconvenience his young stayer.

However, having to carry a three pound Group winners penalty against the likes of Geordieland does concern Tregonning, as he indicated in yesterday's interview,

"Based off his work at home, soft ground at Doncaster should not be a problem, and I am confident he is still progressing, but having to carry a penalty against the likes of proven stayers like Geordieland could make the difference between winning and losing."

Premio Loco hits career high in Germany.

The Chris Wall trained Premio Loco had previously won two Listed races, and had also got very close to Scintillo in this year's Group 3 Winter Derby, but at Baden Baden on Tuesday, the five year old achieved a career high when running out a clear winner of the Group 2 Oettingen-rennen.

Given an excellent ride by George Baker in the extended mile contest, Premio Loco was asked to go on at the furlong pole, and he quickened impressively to score by two and a half lengths from Konig Concorde.

Dandyman regains the winning thread.

It may only have been a three runner Class 2 Conditions Stakes at Leicester, but yesterday, one time top sprinter Dandyman at last recovered his winning thread. Given a confident ride by Frankie Dettori, the 4/6 favourite was scoring his first victory since April 2007, and it represented his initial win since being purchased by the Godolphin organisation.

Having been given this boost to his confidence, connections now intend to step him back up to Group level in the hope he can maintain his new winning thread.
