Curragh launches Thoroughbred Trail.In a joint initiative with Horse Racing Ireland, the Curragh are to launch an excellent scheme named Thoroughbred Trail. For keen followers of horse racing who would like to gain an insight into the workings of many aspects of the racing industry, the new scheme provides a unique opportunity. For a total outlay of just twenty five euros, the Thoroughbred Trail offers a select group access to many equine operations located in the Curragh area. Membership also includes entry to the Irish Champions Meeting on Irish St Leger Day, 13 September. To join the scheme, race goers are advised to contact Eimear O'Reilly at the Curragh. No War Artist at York.Smart sprinter War Artist has been withdrawn from next week's Nunthorpe Stakes at York. Connections have advised the media, the former South African star will be aimed at sprint prizes in europe. Mike de Koch backtracks on Murtagh comments.Following the defeat of his Archipenko in last weekend's Arlington Million, South African trainer Mike de Koch gave a stinging criticism of the riding tactics adopted by Johnnie Murtagh on the third placed Mount Nelson. However, it is reported today, de Koch has indicated the criticism was issued in the heat of the moment, and he would now like to distance himself from his initial post race comments about Murtagh. Falco to be retired.Despite winning the French 2,000 Guineas earlier in the season, Falco has failed to reach a similar level of form in his subsequent races, and the decision has been made by the three year old's connections to retire him to an early stud career. |
