Some trainers uncomfortable with BHA draconian approach.

Based on our feedback from training sources, although all trainers agree seminars on the damage done to racing by insider trading are important and essential to maintaining a positive image of horse racing in the UK, some trainers believe threatening to cancel training licenses for non-attendance at a seminar is somewhat draconian.

It certainly seems sensible to suggest, trainers who have held a license for over ten years, and who have never been questioned about any form of doubtful practises deserve a less dictatorial approach from the BHA.

Considerable improvement shown by Arlington winners.

Based on the latest Timeform figures, when winning last weekend's Arlington Million, french raider Spirit One put in the best performance of his career, improving by four pounds from 118 to 122.

Furthermore, Dermot Weld's Winchester also put in a career high when winning the Secretariat Stakes, improving on his previous best by five pounds, and increasing his rating from 110 to 115.

Big boost for next week's prize money at York.

Next week's 4 day Ebor Meeting at York has prize money totalling 2.7 million pounds, which represents a pro rata increase of three hundred and fifty thousand pounds on the prize fund of the corresponding races run during 2007.

The biggest increases are to be found in the prize funds for; the Juddmonte International, which is this year worth five hundred and fifty thousand pounds, the Totesport Ebor Handicap, which remains the richest handicap in europe with a total prize fund of two hundred and ten thousand pounds, and the St Leger Two Year Olds Sales Race, which is worth three hundred thousand pounds this year.

It is not just the owners, trainers and jockeys who can win big prizes. The best dressed lady chosen on Thursday's Ladies Day will receive a superb mini break in Dubai.
