Cork Races Cancelled.

Following flooding by the River Blackwater, the race meetings planned on the Cork Mallow Racecourse for tomorrow and Monday have been cancelled.

 

Peeping Fawn Retired.

After failing to regain her form of 2007 on the training gallops, the Ballydoyle super filly Peeping Fawn has been retired to the paddocks, with a view of going to stud early in 2009.

Aintree tickets go on sale.

National Hunt lovers should note, Aintree Racecourse season tickets go on sale from Monday 04 August, and the brochure for the 2009 John Smiths Grand National is now available at the Aintree Racecourse website.  

Ayr ladies in line for super prizes.

A bumper crowd is already assured at next Saturday evening’s Ayr Ladies Night, and the most glamorous ladies at the meeting are in line to win some fabulous prizes later this year. In fact, the various winners of next week’s Best Dressed Lady Competition will each receive a silver coin. This coin will not only provide free access to Ayr’s Ladies Day Final on Friday 19 September, but it will also represent a horse running in the Ayr Silver Cup on that day. For the lady holding the coin matching the number of the winning horse, she will receive a fabulous Alfa Romeo Spider, while the second placed lady will win jewellery worth £3,500, while the third placed lady will obtain a fantastic cruise holiday.  

Walcott to kick off Mascot Grand National.

The tenth annual running of the John Smith’s Mascot Grand National is due to take place prior to racing at Huntingdon Racecourse on Sunday 05 October.

The already world famous event attracts sporting mascot’s from all over the UK, and provides watchers with a rip roaring and hilarious spectacle. This year’s tenth running of the race will be started by Arsenal and England international footballer Theo Walcott.

The proceeds from this year’s event will go to the Willow Cancer Foundation, set up by former Arsenal goalkeeper Bob Wilson O B E, and his wife, in memory of their daughter, who lost her fight against cancer at the age of only 31. As an ambassador for the charity, Theo Walcott, is said to be delighted to be involved in starting the magnificent charity event.
